Situated in a residential estate south of Dullatur, this commission was the extension and reconfiguration of a 3 bedroom detached house. The extension took the form of a rear corner infill between the side of the main house and the rear of the attached garage.
Infilling the corner allowed us to extend and reconfigure the back of the house to create an open plan kitchen, dining and family snug which opens to a private patio and garden via a series of double patio doors.
The infill extension created the opportunity to extend the existing garage roof up and over the extension. We then transformed the previously unusable garage roof void to form an office and reading gallery over the kitchen. The creation of the gallery also allowed us to add a real sense of space to the house.
A very large patent glazed roof light fills both the extension and the existing house through the clever introduction of an opening to the first-floor landing. The extension was a mere 7m2, but it unlocked 154m3 of space.
